While on a visit to Germany in the early 1960's, a prominent Canadian jewellery store owner discovered a very unique alarm clock that was only available in Europe at the time. He tracked down the manufacturer of the alarm clock, and asked if he could obtain the distribution rights for Canada. Since the company did not have any representation in Canada at that time, they agreed.

The businessman, who already owned a very successful retail jewellery store , did not have the time to market the product in Canada but believed that the alarm clock had great sales potential. He asked his son-in-law if he would be interested in running an import and distribution company to market the alarm clock.

His son-in-law took on the challenge, and Telep Distributors Ltd. was born in 1964. Telep Distributors Ltd. soon became one of Canada's leading clock distributors to the gift and jewellery retail trade, with a nation wide sales force and the best selection of clocks in the industry, from travel alarms to grandfather clocks.

Some of the other product lines Telep has carried over the years include floral items, crystal collectables, pearl jewellery , Wolf Design jewellery boxes and Loving Family Pendants.

In 2004, the original owner and president retired and sold the company.The new owner is committed to carrying on the tradition of excellence, and has already improved the sales and distribution capabilities by moving the head office to a more efficient location. Telep continues to carry a wide selection of Forestville clocks, Wolf Designs Jewellery Cases, Loving Family Pendants and Seiko Precision Clock Movements and Accessories.
